Tropical Guestroom Office Reveal

Our tropical themed oasis is now complete! Mom you’re welcome to come over now :)

There was nothing really wrong with it before, I just felt that it was time for a change. So this is more of a decor update than a complete makeover. One of the last things that I did in the room was paint it a lighter grey. I chose Behr’s Silver Drop again so that both the bedrooms and the hallway upstairs would all be the same color.

The pillows and headboard were DIY projects and the bedding was a clearance item from Quilts Etc. The lamps and side tables are from the original room and were purchased at Target and Clair de Lune.

I fell in love with this vintage rug from HomeSense and just had to have it. I think it really adds a nice contrast.

I also found these free printables at TheGraphicsFairy.com and simply placed them in dollar store frames for an inexpensive but sophisticated look.

I’m absolutely loving my little office nook and it’s been great for keeping my craft supplies out of sight and out of the communal junk drawer (let’s admit it, we all have one).

I thought it would be fun to have a guest book so that our friends and family can leave us notes when they stay with us. So far my brother and our cat have signed it, and by cat, I mean my husband wrote in it as our cat Sola who’s been spending all her time in this room since we updated it. I know… he’s odd.

You’ll remember I found this desk second-hand and just painted it coral and added some lion pulls for a simple update. The desk items are mostly from HomeSense (obviously my favorite store) Michaels (they have lots of fun office supplies right now), and Walmart.

The upstairs of our house is finally done! It only took me 3 years to finish a bathroom and two bedrooms haha. But don’t worry I have a thousand more projects to work on so here’s to another three years!

  1. Hi, where is your awesome bedspread from?

    1. Hi! I bought it at Quilts Etc. I found it on clearance at their store but they might have it on their website too.

  2. Hello! I’m curious to the size of this room (floor space and ceiling height). I have two rooms upstairs that are similar in shape that I don’t know what to do with, and this is very inspiring!

    1. The room is 13.5 x 8 with 8 foot ceilings. It was big enough for a double size bed but you could even fit a queen without side tables. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your rooms!

  3. Hi! Where did you find the striped chair? I love it!

  4. What is the paint color you used for the desk?

    1. Hi Ashley, I painted it Watermelon Punch by Behr in hi-gloss :)
