DIY Dollar Store Christmas Garland

diy Dollar Store Christmas Garland

There’s only 3 weeks left until Christmas and I’ve only just started to decorate, but thankfully the decorating bug bit me last night after a successful trip to the dollar store.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your home look festive and glamorous! This garland cost me less than $15 to make and can be used all over the house for an instant face lift or last minute party decoration.

Here’s all you’ll need:

Plain garland
Roll of tulle
Two colors of Christmas ball ornaments (different sizes)
Ribbon in two different patterns (same color as decorations)

Step 1:  Attach the garland to your stair railing / or above a door frame. I just used twine for this part.

Step 2:  Attach the tulle to the garland and just pinch it down about every foot or so with one of the wired branches.  I also changed the direction of the tulle as I went along.

Step 3:  Hang your first set of Christmas decorations making sure to space them out evenly.

Step 4:  Attach your ribbon to the second set of Christmas ball ornaments using the same pattern of ribbon.

Step 5:  Then add the second roll of patterned ribbon to the rest of the ornaments.

Step 6:  Attach them to the garland at varying lengths. Again, using the wired branches to secure them in place.

Step 7:  Step back, admire your creation, and break out the eggnog and Christmas music!
