Over 400 watercolor prints…for free!

So, I recently discovered that some of my favorite pictures of birds are actually from a collection of watercolors painted by John James Audubon, known for his studies and documentation of all types of American birds in the 1800’s.

This site http://www.audubon.org/birds-of-america offers over 400 free high-resolution photos for download of these amazing watercolors! I guarantee you’ll find at least one to suite your decor.

You may recognize this famous painting called the American Flamingo.

Or maybe this Great Blue Heron. It’s somewhat hard to believe that he hand-painted over 400 of these detailed birds.

I personally fell in love with this one, the American Pelican. Isn’t he sophisticated?

I have a large blank space over my staircase that I’ve been wanting to fill so I downloaded the image and sent it for printing. I then picked up this poster frame from Michael’s for $27.

The print cost me $30 in the end but I chose the largest option available to me which was 24×36. So if you’re just looking for some small wall art, you could definitely just print them at home and pop it in a frame.

I was very happy with the quality of the print. I doubt I’d be able to find a piece of art this regal for less than $57 in stores. I may be making a few more trips to the print center!
