I hope everyone had a great Christmas and was able to spend time with their families :)
I’m back with a head full of projects for the new year and will be kicking it off with this inexpensive DIY I tackled today. All you need is a vintage painting and some paint!
I found this little treasure at a second-hand store this weekend and thought it would be perfect to hang in our bathroom.
While I do love it in its original state, our bathroom is black and white so I wanted it to blend in.
The first thing I did was use my white painting pen to outline the flowers and vase and then painted the frame white with some leftover trim paint I had laying around.
I then used some black watercolor paint I got from the dollar store to fill in the background of the painting.
If you make a mistake going into the outline, you can just go back over it later with the white paint. I also lightly went over the vase with some gold paint because there was already a lot of black in the original painting of the vase and I wanted it to stand out a bit more.
This technique definitely modernized it and now it looks perfect in the bathroom.
If there is anything you’d like to see more of this year just let me know! The two biggest projects I’ll be working on are my soon-to-be niece’s nursery, which needs to be completed by the end of March, and our kitchen renovation! I’ll have lots of DIY tips so if you’d like to get updates, just subscribe via email at the top of the page. Thanks for following along and happy New Year!
